XRPL Amendment Draft Surfaces While XRP Faces Selling Pressure

While broader market conditions weighed on XRP prices in recent sessions, development work on the XRPL continued through a standard GitHub process that keeps proposals visible and separate from daily trading.

XRP traded near $1.45 after declining 5.3 percent on the day, according to CoinGecko data at approximately 10:21 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The move aligned with softer prices across several major assets, including Bitcoin at $78,896, down 2.4 percent, and Ethereum at $2,460.55, down 2.2 percent. Solana and Dogecoin also posted losses, leaving the session defined by red candles rather than any single catalyst tied to protocol changes.

The draft amendment, labeled On-Chain Cosigner and posted July 14, 2026, introduces a TransactionProposal ledger object along with three new transaction types: TransactionProposalCreate, TransactionProposalSign, and TransactionProposalCancel. Discussion opened on XRPL-Standards #589 on July 23. The approach stores an unsigned transaction as a proposal, allows signers to append signatures on ledger, and permits anyone to copy and submit the completed transaction. It requires XLS-49 and carries a reserve cost of five owner-reserve increments for a standard proposal or ten for a Batch proposal.

Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and Shibo (David Chaboki) flagged the July draft with the Doginal Dogs community to clarify that the proposal carries its own identifier and is not the BatchV1_1 tag already used in xrpld 3.3.0 or the earlier 3.2.0 release. The latest tagged server remains xrpld 3.3.0, and the cosigner draft is absent from both that release and xrpld 3.2.0.

Clear separation from prior work

The proposal stands apart from BatchV1_1 XLS-56, XLS-0095, XLS-65/66, and XLS-96. Each of those items followed its own review path and received distinct tagging once ready. The current draft follows the same public route, with all materials hosted on the XRPL-Standards repository for inspection.

Emphasis on process transparency

Posting the draft early creates a record that any participant can review before activation. The GitHub discussion format allows comments and revisions without assuming the change will ship. Reserve requirements are stated plainly, and the dependency on XLS-49 is listed so implementers know the prerequisites.

No timeline for inclusion in a future xrpld release appears in the current materials. The proposal remains a draft under discussion, which keeps the focus on review rather than immediate deployment.

Price context without direct linkage

XRP price action on the day reflected broader altcoin movement rather than any announced protocol milestone. The chart showed steady selling through the session, with no reversal candles visible at the close referenced in the data. Traders watching spot markets saw the same pattern across several names, suggesting macro sentiment played the larger role.

The separation between trading levels and protocol drafts supports a measured view of each. Market participants can assess price independently while developers continue the amendment process through documented steps.

Next steps remain open

Further updates will depend on community feedback in the discussion thread and any subsequent revisions. The repository page contains the posted draft and the opened thread, both available for direct examination. As with prior amendments, the path from draft to possible activation follows the established XRPL review sequence.
